RachelEscoeGlass is offering Private Party Glassblowing Events

Good morning Saturday buddies!

I have been receiving a ton of amazing interest on private party glassblowing events! So here is some info on what I will be offering at this moment in time and what future offers will be available once I can raise enough money to purchase a trailer and a truck for mobility purposes!

Private Party Workshop Inquiries : Great for wedding parties, team building work events, birthdays, bat/bar mitzvahs. You name it!

  • Group Sizes - RachelEscoeGlass is able to take group sizes of up to 10 - 15 people max at this time.

  • What You Make - Groups get the options to make an ornament or a paperweight. You pick your own colors and I help make it! (Wedding party options are different. Please feel free to contact Rachel if you are looking for specifically wedding party info.)

  • Duration - Workshops range from 3 hours to 4 hours depending on the size of the group. Roughly 10 minutes for each person to make their work with me! (We can set-up a snack/hang out table while everyone is waiting to make their work and watching hot glass!)

Where -

- Evening workshops are held in Vancouver, WA at a community glass studio.

- Morning workshops are held in Portland, OR at my home studio.

When -

- Evening workshops are SATURDAYS - WEDNESDAYS starting at 6pm.

- Morning workshops are SATURDAYS starting at 10am.

For more information on my hands-on workshops for smaller groups please take a look at my workshops page. Link below!

So, in the meantime, I am able to host 10-15 people group events at my home studio and small workshops are held Saturday mornings. Weather permitting of course because they are held outside. We will be under a canopy. This will provide shade from sunlight and shelter from the rain/wind. Schedule changes will apply according to weather. If you are a night owl. I will be holding my workshops in the evenings at a community glassblowing studio in Vancouver, WA.

In the future, once I am completely mobile; meaning once I have a truck and trailer, I will be able to the take the glass workshops and private events to your space of choosing. I will be able to host large events and small workshops in peoples driveways, at public school events, courtyards, festivals, outside markets, breweries, wineries, wedding event spaces. You name it!

Please stay tuned in. I will be starting a crowd funding campaign in September where you will have a chance to help me become a fully mobile glassblowing studio!! There will rewards and fun things honored in your name if you help back my endeavor to become a mobile glass shop!

Thanks so much for reading and have a relaxing Saturday folks! Much love.

The Mobile Furnace is Up & Running!!!

The Glass Current : A Mobile Glassblowing Studio

Hi Everyone! The Glass Current, a mobile glassblowing studio is up and running. I am currently taking NEW bookings for Saturday mornings. Wahoooo! They will be 3-hour workshops from 10am to 1pm. For more info on dates and workshop details, please click the link below!

I am so excited to show you all my new studio. It is currently not quite mobile yet, but it is running! I will be holding my workshops in the meantime outside in my home studio backyard. Until I can raise enough money to buy a truck and trailer. Once I have those ducks in a row, then The Glass Current can go to all sorts of different locations. I will essentially be able to bring the shop to you! Private party events, festivals, markets, public school happenings, you name it!

To help me get to my goal of being mobile, I am looking for some help from my community.

I will be previewing, announcing and unveiling a crowd funding platform where you can hear my story, watch a fun video on how my glass studio will work and see me teaching glassblowing. Then you will have an option of helping to back my project with funds that will go towards a trailer and a truck. So the glass studio can travel to different locations.

I will be releasing more info within the next couple of months and have the crowd funding site up and running by the end of September! Keep an eye out for that and thank you again for following me on my glassy journey!

Much Love

Having a Baby & Running Your Small Business

Women in business and starting a family. Now that is a whole big topic isn’t it! I am going through a huge new and exciting adventure. Which is becoming a parent, a new mom to my sweet baby boy and navigating how to run my glass art business at the same time. Thankfully I’m a big planner. I put most of my ducks in a row to be able to go on maternity leave. Although, when you are running your own business, especially a small business, it isn’t like you get any paid leave benefits! At least for me, that is a straight up, “hell no,” when it comes to that! Unless I sell some of my currently made work online and in stores. Factor in the fact that I am the only person on staff at Rachel Escoe Glass. If I had other employees, well then that would be another story.

I literally do all of it. I plan my projects out, make the work, photograph my work, apply for submissions, market my artwork all over the place, design, update and run my own website, social medias and customer support. I also do all of the sales and shipping at my humble abode here in Portland, Oregon. Don’t get me wrong, I love doing all of this. Being my own boss is wonderful! And of course, as an artist I obviously always want to be solely making work. In reality running your own business requires much more than just making work. For now, I have lots of new ideas brewing up inside my brain. Drawing and sketching those out is a great way to pass time when the babe is sleeping! I will be posting pictures of those on my Instagram through out my maternity leave. Check it out @RachelEscoeGlass.

My main reasoning for wanting to write this little spiel is to let everyone know that I am still here, I can’t wait to get back into the glass shop and make you all some fun glasswork. I am very excited to re-open my glassblowing workshops too! Hopefully this summer of 2021 if covid numbers start to get better. I really do enjoy teaching all of you fine folks the art of glassblowing. I intend to be back in the glass shop by April 2021. So if you have any questions or ideas about projects you want made , please feel free to e-mail me. I would love to talk shop and plan some projects with you. You can also pre-book workshops with me anytime. Just check out my website and click on workshops info. I currently have an array of in-stock glass art available right now at Rachel Escoe Glass. Please take a look at my online shop and info on where to find my work in person.

This subject will be an ongoing blog theme for me. Please, if you feel the need to share your stories with me, I would love to hear from other women in business; who are navigating family life as well. In the meantime I will be here spending quality time with my lovely bundle of joy, healing from my delivery and enjoying the little things!

Toodles for now my friends! Stay safe and healthy out there.
